President John Mahama has announced measures to resolve the feeding challenges in senior high schools (SHSs) nationwide. According to him, food items imported to tackle the drought situation in 2024 will be distributed to the various schools. President Mahama was speaking at a National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held in Accra on Sunday, January 12.
Mr. Mahama noted that he has already directed the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, to liaise with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to evacuate the food from the port for onward distribution. This, according to the president, is his commitment to improving the Free Senior High School program, which was initiated by the previous government. The Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools (CHASS) earlier urged parents and guardians to assist with the feeding challenges in SHSs by giving their wards more food for school.
