The West African Examination Council (WAEC) says it is making progress towards releasing the results for candidates who sat for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The council assures that the pending results will soon be available for students.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, October 22, WAEC disclosed that the results of 33 school candidates and three private candidates have been withheld for further investigation. This action comes amid concerns about potential examination malpractices.
Furthermore, subject results from candidates in 149 schools are also under review due to reports of irregularities during the examination period. WAEC is currently conducting thorough investigations to ensure fairness and integrity in the final results. WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, called for calm, urging parents and guardians to remain patient as the results processing continues.
He emphasised that the council is working diligently to address all concerns and finalise the release. WAEC assured the public that they are committed to upholding the credibility of the examination process, and once the investigations are concluded, all genuine results will be promptly released to the respective candidates.
