The People’s National Convention (PNC) has officially closed nominations for persons seeking to be elected to various positions during its upcoming Congress on Saturday, paving the way for the vetting of aspirants. The opposition party has scheduled Thursday and Friday for the vetting of 17 aspirants who have submitted applications. According to a statement from the Congress Committee of the party, the candidates have been divided into two groups for the vetting process.
The first group will be vetted between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Thursday, while the second group will undergo vetting at the same time on Friday. Among the notable candidates who have filed for the elections are Bernard Anbataayela Mornah and David Apasera, both of whom are vying for the position of flagbearer. For the Chairmanship, Hajia Hajara Ali and Asaki Awingobit have submitted their forms to be vetted.
The race for the General Secretary position will see Awudu Ishak and Yakubu Fahrudeen competing to take charge of the party’s administrative duties. Additionally, Abass Nuhu and Daniel Nii Noi Osekine are contesting for the National Organiser role, aiming to strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilization. For the Women’s Organiser position, Christiana Fugah and Esther Osei will go head-to-head.
Other aspirants include Mark Ewusi Arko and Alidu Mohammed Nasirdeen for the Youth Organiser position, and Emmanuel Akazabre, who is seeking to become the party’s Treasurer. Several candidates are also contesting for deputy positions, including Martin Anafo and Eugene Tamado Koffikan Bashiru for Vice Chairman, Prince K. Agyeman-Duah for Assistant Secretary, Saeed Abdallah for Assistant Organiser, and Narrita Mary Logah for Deputy Women’s Organiser.
