The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a one-week ultimatum to the Electoral Commission (EC) to take action on their petition calling for a forensic audit of the voter registration process. The National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, announced that if the EC does not respond within this period, the party will escalate its efforts with a series of protests aimed at pressuring the Commission to ensure transparency.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Gyamfi indicated that these protests would extend to the EC’s district offices across the country. He stressed that the NDC is a law-abiding political party and would use peaceful and constitutional means to express its dissatisfaction.
He also questioned the EC’s refusal to allow a forensic audit, suggesting that such resistance indicates the possibility of something amiss. He argued that if the EC had nothing to hide, they should embrace the call for an audit as an opportunity to prove their transparency and be vindicated.
