President John Dramani Mahama has announced that his administration has successfully averted a potential power crisis that threatened the country due to scheduled maintenance work on the West African Gas Pipeline. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed ministers at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 22, the President assured Ghanaians that proactive measures had been taken to ensure uninterrupted energy supply.
He explained that maintenance on the gas pipeline, a critical source of fuel for thermal plants in the eastern enclave, posed a serious risk to the country’s energy supply. However, his administration acted swiftly to prevent a power outage. President Mahama also praised the new Energy Minister, John Jinapor, for his diligence and swift action in resolving the challenge.
Meanwhile, the President also reiterated his commitment to maintaining a lean government. Speaking during the same event, he pledged to keep the total number of ministers at 60, as promised during his campaign.
