The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced the recall of ballot papers for the Western and Eastern Regions after reports of a defaced ballot paper. As a result, the special voting exercise originally scheduled for Monday, December 2, has been postponed to Thursday, December 5.

The EC decided to recall and reprint ballots for the Western and Eastern Regions after National Security found a defaced ballot outside the Checkpoint Printing House. Although no issues were reported with the Western Region’s ballots, the same facility printed ballots for both regions, prompting the precautionary measure.

Mrs. Mensah assured the public that the EC is taking all necessary measures to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process. The reprinting and redistribution of the affected ballots are currently underway.
