The NPP legislator’s decision to seek legal redress highlights his belief in the judiciary’s ability to deliver justice in electoral disputes. Patrick Yaw Boamah, the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, has declared his intention to challenge the results of the parliamentary elections in court. Boamah insists he is the rightful winner of the seat and will pursue all legal avenues to reverse what he describes as a “fraudulent declaration.”
Boamah accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of seizing the Okaikwei Central parliamentary seat through what he termed a “coup d’état.” He alleged irregularities in the declaration process, citing coercion of the Returning Officer. The incumbent MP described the incident as unprecedented and unconstitutional; emphasizing that it undermines the integrity of Ghana’s electoral process.
