Position Overview: We are seeking dedicated and resourceful Reporters to join our team at Marhaba 99.3 FM. The ideal candidates will have a strong passion for journalism, an eye for compelling stories, and the ability to report news that resonates with the Hausa-speaking community. As a Reporter at Marhaba FM, you will be responsible for gathering, verifying, and delivering news stories that keep our audience informed and engaged.
Key Responsibilities:
- News Gathering: Identify and research news stories that are relevant to the Hausa-speaking community, covering a wide range of topics including local, national, and international news.
- Reporting: Conduct interviews, attend press conferences, and visit the scene of events to collect accurate and timely information.
- Story Development: Write and edit news stories, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to Marhaba FM’s editorial guidelines.
- Broadcast Reporting: Deliver live and recorded news reports on-air, providing clear and engaging narration of events.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community members, officials, and sources to stay informed about ongoing and emerging issues.
- Multimedia Content: Collaborate with the digital team to create multimedia content, including videos, photos, and social media posts to complement your stories.
- Deadline Management: Work under tight deadlines to deliver news reports promptly and efficiently.
- Ethical Journalism: Adhere to the highest standards of journalistic integrity, ensuring unbiased and accurate reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory with relevant experience).
- Proven experience as a reporter or journalist, preferably in radio or broadcast media.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Hausa and English.
- Excellent research and investigative skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using recording equipment, editing software, and digital tools for news reporting.
