Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Visits newly established Nursing College.
His Excellency the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Meshal Hamdan Alrogi visited the newly built Islamic Nursing college at Kokrobite in the Greater Accra region. The college, described by its principal, Mr. Saeed Sofo, as the first of its kind in Accra, was launched over the weekend by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia. His Excellency Ambassador Alrogi’s visit came after an invitation by the stakeholders of the school, who sought to give him a glimpse of the outstanding edifice and its ambitious objective. The Ambassador and his accompanying delegation, consisting staff of the Saudi Embassy, the Director of AL-Huda Islamic Organization, Sheikh Armiyaw Jibreel, and other guests, were taken through the various facilities housed by the college and were given a gist of how management intends to make the college operational to practically meet demanding health needs of the country. Ambassador commended stakeholders for such a timely intervention in view the health crisis imposed on countries by the COVID-19 pandemic, when health practitioners became heroes of the survival of their nation. He further urged management to focus on ensuring well-crafted curriculum geared towards training community-oriented and patient-centred health professionals. Excellence, according to Saudi Arabian Ambassador is the hallmark of Islamic teachings, and therefore urged stakeholders to strive to make the newly inaugurated nursing college a beacon of hope for young people from Zongo communities and beyond.
The Islamic Nursing Training College was conceived by a Nigerian scholar, Sheik Hassam Hamza Musa, and initiated with the support of the Ahlu Sunnah wal Jamaa Muslim sect from Ghana and Nigeria.
It is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and offers diploma in health nursing, general nursing and other certification courses.
