Political Science lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Jonathan Asante, has attributed 60 percent of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general election to the leadership of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The lecturer’s remarks come in the wake of comments made by the former Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Crabbe, who described the party as weak.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Asante highlighted the neglect of party structures as a major contributor to the NPP’s significant electoral loss. He also noted that the future of the NDC’s electoral fortunes depends heavily on the performance of the current Mahama-led administration.
