Aisha Bawa goes Home with this Car as the National Best Nurse 2021?

She was among 10 finalists and other nurses and midwives in various disciplines from across the country who were honored during the occasion which was held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.

Aisha who also won the best nurse/midwife for the Ashanti region was presented with a brand new car valued at over GHC100,000, a laptop with a citation.

The top 10 finalists, who are also the regional best nurses for the year. It is said that one of them will have to crowned the National Best Nurse the night at the 2nd GRNMA NATIONAL AWARDS NIGHT are

ASHANTI REGIONAL 2021 BEST NURSE/MIDWIFE

Aisha is a Registered Midwife at the Manhyia District Hospital. She has been able to bring her knowledge and skills to bear in reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality at Manhyia District Hospital.

She holds a diploma from the Nursing and Midwifery training college in Kumasi and BSc midwifery from the Kwame Nkrumah University of science and technology Kumasi. Since 2013 she has been the Champion and Focal Person in Newborn Care Manhyia District Hospital, Regional Facilitator in helping babies breathe (HBB) and Essential care for every baby (ECEB) Ghana Health Service, Health promoter (Radio and TV) on Maternal and Newborn issues and general health program.

A Focal person and Champion in Adolescent Health (2014- till date): Manhyia District Hospital, Preceptor for Garden City University College, School of Midwifery, and a Coordinator for Maternal and Perinatal Morbidity and Mortality meetings within Manhyia District Hospital. Her interest is reading and helping mankind.

VOLTA REGIONAL BEST NURSE 2020/2021

Wonder Vitashie is currently a Nursing Officer (Paediatrics) in Worawora Government Hospital. She had her professional training from 2009-2012 at the Nurses Training College, Ho, Ghana. She later became an Associate Member of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives. Wonder, is also an old student of EPC Mawuko Girls Senior High School (class of 2008).

Wonder has worked in Worawora Government Hospital since 2014 after her rotation at Ho Teaching Hospital. She Equips staff, rotation nurses and student nurses with knowledge and skills. Developed 3 posters and 2 protocols to improve neonatal care, monitoring chart for Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy and a tag for labelling patients IV-Fluids.

She is an advocator for needy, teenager mothers and children with special needs. Wonder is a Christian and believes everything is possible with God.


EASTERN REGIONAL BEST NURSE 2020/2021

Mavis is a Nursing Officer with the Atua Government Hospital. She had her nursing training at the Koforidua Nursing and Midwifery training college and completed in 2012. She is an Associate Member (Paediatrics) of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives.

Currently undertaking Bsc Nursing at the university of cape Coast.

Mavis has since 2019 been the GRNMA treasurer, Atua Zone, and from 2016 to date the deputy secretary Atua welfare Association.

She was awarded the outstanding student- associate pediatric membership, Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (2018). She is currently the deputy ward in-charge of the Paediatric unit whose dedication and commitment to work has impacted positively on the staff and clients of the unit.


WESTERN REGIONAL BEST NURSE 2020/2021

Miss Bridget Adjoa Quainoo is a Senior Enrolled Nurse at the Takoradi Hospital. She is a product of the Sefwi Wiawso Health Assistant Training School where she obtained certification as a Health Assistant (Clinical) in 2012. Currently pursuing Diploma in General Nursing at NMTC, Sekondi-Takoradi, Western Region.

Miss Bridget Adjoa Quainoo has been serving at the Takoradi Hospital for over 8 years and worked in various wards and units and currently at the Diabetes Clinic serving as a Diabetes Nurse Educator.

Her passion, commitment and dedication to work always leaves a lasting positive impression on her patients and peers. In recognition of her hard work, she has been awarded as the Best Nurse; Takoradi Hospital, Best Nurse: Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis and Best Nurse Western Region.

Bridget is married with two beautiful kids and her dream is to become a Diabetes Nurse consultant.


CENTRAL REGIONAL BEST NURSE 2020/2021

Freda is a Registered Nurse with the Cape Coast Municipal Hospital with fourteen years working experience and has built proficiency in her nursing career. Had her basic training at NMTC Cape Coast, pursued first degree and Masters of Science program from the University of Cape Coast and a certificate from GIMPA.

She is the Nurse Lead at the COVID-19 Treatment Center and a Regional Case Management Member for Central Region. An In-service training and facility peer Review coordinator, focal person QAQI, Member of the procurement and disciplinary committees.

Freda was the COVID-19 Heroine for Central Region in 2020 and also the overall Best Worker Saltpond Municipal Hospital in 2008.

An administrator, preceptor, clinical Nurse who has mentored many and dedicated herself to the course of the nursing *and Midwifery profession*


NORTHERN REGIONAL BEST NURSE 2020/2021

Ms. Gameti is a Paediatric Nurse who works with the Gushiegu Municipal Hospital in the Northern Region for the past the six (6) years.

She holds a Diploma in General nursing an associate member (Paediatrics) of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives and currently pursuing a degree in general nursing at the Garden City University.

She is the first in charge of NICU where she was sets very high standards for the unit.

Currently the in- charge of the Paediatric unit and has undertaken numerous and innovative activities such as the setting up of Paediatric emergency unit, malnutrition unit, sickle cell clinic and surgical unit; to improve nursing care and the general management of the department.

She is currently the Best Northern Regional Nurse.


BRONG AHAFO REGIONAL BEST NURSE 2020/2021

Bernice is a psychiatric nurse who had her training at the Pantang Nurses Training College and completed in 2014 and posted to Brong Ahafo region. She is the first mental nurse to be posted to a CHPS where she coordinated all activities. She Organises Mental health outreach and monitors and supervises Expanded Program on Immunization within the sub district. She is also the Liaison for the clinic health committee and District health management team and Trained Community Base Volunteers on health events.

Bernice is the first mental Health nurse to report TB positive case (2021) and Two positive measles cases at Tronang. She has won the district best nurse award twice 2020/2021

Currently working at Dormaa Municipal as a Mental Health Nurse in the Bono Region where she doubles as the Surveillance Officer, Malaria Focal Person, Sub district supervisor and Facility in-charge. An organizer, supervisor and administrator


UPPER EAST REGIONAL 2021 BEST NURSE/MIDWIFE

Mr. Anthony Pulamda Gariba holds diploma in nursing from the Presbyterian Nurses Training College, and works with the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.

He also holds a certificate in theology from the international Bible Training College and a degree in Bachelor of Education in Health Science from the University of Cape Coast.

He served as a nurse in- charge at the Widana health centre from 2014 to 2016 and acting ward in-charge at Female Ward at the Bawku Presby in 2020. He is currently the deputy director for nursing administration in his hospital.

Anthony was awarded the best Upper East Regional nurse/midwife in 2011. He has contributed tremendously to the community, clients and the entire nursing and midwifery profession.


UPPER WEST REGIONAL 2021 BEST NURSE/MIDWIFE

Ali Adams is a Registered Community Nurse who was employed in 2013 by the Ghana Health Service as a Nurse Assistant Preventive (NAP) and posted to Goh CHPS. In 2014 due to excellent performance, he was reassigned to Jeyiri CHPS.

Ali is a graduate of KNUST with diploma in Community health nursing. He currently works at the Kundungu Health Centre as sub-district in-charge. He won a number of accolades from the employer (Ghana Health Service), the trade Union (GRNMA) and private Sector – NGOs.​

The most remarkable ones were the Good Citizen Awards for Wa East and the Regional Best community Health Nurse for the Upper West Region both in 2018 from Send Ghana (an NGO) and he is currently the Best Regional Nurse/Midwife for Upper West Region.


GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL BEST NURSE/MIDWIFE

Christiana Adubea Koranteng is currently a Senior Nursing Officer (Paediatrics) with the Shai Osudoku District Hospital, Dodowa.

She had her professional training from 2008 – 2011 at the Nursing and Midwifery Training School, Korle Bu. She later became an Associate Member of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (2017), and graduated with Bachelor of Science, Nursing from Valley View University in 2018. Christiana, is also an old student of Aburi Girls Senior High School, class of 2007.

Christiana is a wonderful nurse who seize every opportunity to teach nursing and midwifery students and colleague nurses. She has actively been engaged in clinical activities such as formulating care management protocols for preterm babies and pediatrics emergency management protocol
