The First Adabraka Zongo chief, Alhaji Abdul Mumuni Bagigah has said he would prioritize the education of the youth in his community.
The installment was endorsed and blessed by the National Chief Imam Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu.
Alhaji Abdul Mumuni Bagigah who spoke to Marhaba News said educating the youth would improve life in the Zongo community.
“There is a paradigm shift now, every community in our Zongos needs a leader, who can be the voice, and speak for the community as a whole. We will meet periodically, share ideas and communicate that to the minister. Our mean priority is education; education can take us far, without education we cannot go far. We have some much plans, we are going to sit down with the youth and give them direction and help in any way they need,” he said.
Nana Appiah, Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold and Zylofon Group of Companies, donated one million Ghana Cedis as seed money for the setting up of the ‘Sheikh Nuhu Osmanu Sharubutu Educational Fund.’
This initiative is to support the education of bright but needy Muslims in Ghana.
Mr. Mensah said, with the Chief Imam’s foundation, needy Muslim students can stay in school.
“I grew up in Muslim neighborhoods like Sukula and Kasoa and to see that some of my Muslim friends could not go far with their education because of financial problems we thought an initiative like this could be our small support to help some of our needy brothers in the Muslim and Zongo communities,” Nana Appiah Mensah stated.
